He is famous for his staggering feats of endurance and his ability to make objects magically disappear.
But it seems David Blaine has pulled off his most staggering trick yet, by managing to make his excess body fat vanish.
The conjurer looked a world away from the illusionist of old as he sauntered around with his French fiancée Alizee Guinochet in New York last night.
He looks wand-erful: Magician David Blaine, seen yesterday, left, appears to have made his extra pounds magically disappear from last September 2010, right
His sleek new look will no doubt be a relief to fans, who would have been worried about his health as he piled on the pounds.
Luckily, it seems David, 38, has been sticking diligently to a resalable health and fitness plan, as he now looks far more like the slim young star who shot to fame in 1997 thanks to his TV special Magic Man.
But while he initially became famous for performing intimate magic in urban areas, he later branched out to do a number of endurance tests.
In 2000 he stood in a block of ice for almost 64 hours in New York’s Times Square, and was was suspended in the air in a transparent Plexiglas case in London for 44 days in London, surviving on just 4.5 litres of water per day.
However he was widely ridiculed in 2008 when his Dive of Death stunt went wrong in New York.
He was left suspended just feet from the ground after jumping from a 60 foot platform when he should have floated off into the sky with the aid of helium balloons.
Blaine also developed a reputation for being something of a ladies’ man.
In the 1990s and 2000s he was linked with a number of stars, including as Fiona Apple, Bijou Phillips, Daryl Hannah and Madonna.
